Pike County Release Meanings
A Pike County jail departure is an event, not a single legal result. Bond, release on recognizance, dismissal, time served, completion of a local sentence, and a probation order can end detention at the county facility. Parole or conditional release can move a state prisoner into community supervision while MODOC keeps legal custody. A transfer to another jail, Northeast Correctional Center, federal custody, immigration custody, or a hospital ends one facility stay but continues custody elsewhere.
The release type controls the next search. Sheriff Stephen Korte’s office is the operational source for a Pike County Detention Center exit. The court file can explain the order behind it. MODOC owns a state prison movement or discharge record. Federal agencies keep their own records. A person who leaves an active inmate view may have changed systems, so the name must be checked against the proper agency before the event is called a community release.
Pike County Inmate Release Types
Release language should stay tied to the source. A court order may authorize a release before staff finish processing it. A dismissal resolves a charge but may not state the physical exit time. “Transfer” is especially important because it means the person left Pike County Detention Center without being released from custody.
| Release type | What it means | Next place to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Bond or recognizance | County detention ends under court-set terms while the case continues. | Sheriff release entry and Case.net bond order |
| Time served | The local exit is tied to credit or sentence completion. | Sheriff timestamp and judgment |
| Dismissal | The court ends the charge, though another hold may remain. | Case.net and sheriff confirmation |
| Probation | The person serves court-ordered supervision in the community. | Court order and active MODOC record |
| Parole or conditional release | A state prisoner enters supervised release and remains in MODOC legal custody. | MODOC active search, Parole Board, and P&P |
| Transfer | Custody continues with MODOC, another jail, ICE, USMS, or another authority. | County transfer record and receiving agency |
| Deceased | Custody ends because of death and must not be described as ordinary release. | Originating agency record |
These categories prevent a common error. “Released from Pike County custody” is not always the same as “returned to the community.” The destination or receiving-agency field resolves that difference.
Note: A release reason without a destination may still leave the most important custody question unanswered.
Pike County Release Record Fields
A focused release request names one person and one event. Pike County does not publish a complete online field specification, so these are fields to request rather than promised items. Full name, aliases, date of birth, booking number, and an approximate date range help staff locate the right booking. Each result should be read with the court case and agency in view.
| Requested field | What it can show |
|---|---|
| Booking number and timestamp | The county intake event tied to the release. |
| Release date and time | When the person left the named facility. |
| Release type or reason | Bond, court order, time served, transfer, or another recorded basis. |
| Destination or receiving agency | Whether custody ended locally or continued elsewhere. |
| Charges and bond | The allegations or case and any bond information tied to that booking. |
| Booking photograph | A separately requested image if the record is held and releasable. |
The booking time marks intake, not the start of every form of legal custody. Charges can change. Bond is not a finding of guilt. The release reason and destination are the key fields for distinguishing community release from a move to another authority.
Request Pike County Release Records
No Pike-specific online request form, copying fee schedule, response-time promise, retention period, or booking-photo policy was found. Send a narrow request to the Sheriff’s Department for existing records. Ask for electronic delivery and a written cost estimate before copies are made.
- Identify the event. Give the full name, aliases, date of birth or booking number if known, and the best booking and release date range.
- Name the records. Request the booking and release timestamps, release type, destination or receiving agency, charges, bond fields, and booking photograph as separate items.
- Set the format. Ask for existing electronic records and segregable portions if part of a record must be withheld.
- Ask about cost. Request an estimate first because Pike County has not posted a local fee schedule for this record.
- Reconcile the answer. Compare the sheriff event with the relevant court order, MOVANS notice, or receiving-agency record.

The sheriff remains the direct source for the local release timestamp and destination even when a notification or court entry helps corroborate the event.
Pike County Release Record Law
Missouri’s Section 610.011 states the Sunshine Law’s policy of openness. Section 610.100 requires law enforcement to keep incident, investigative, and arrest records and generally treats incident and arrest reports as open. It does not guarantee that each jail database field or photograph is public. Active investigations, security needs, victim information, medical data, and other lawful limits may require closure or redaction under Section 610.021.
Expungement changes access. Under Section 610.140, a granted petition closes the named records and makes the court record confidential, subject to statutory exceptions. General completion-based waiting criteria are three years for an eligible felony and one year for an eligible misdemeanor, municipal offense, or infraction. Eligible arrest-only petitions have separate eighteen-month conditions. Some offenses are excluded. A missing public result after lawful closure is not proof that an event never happened.
Record access question: What if only part of the Pike County release record is open? Ask the custodian for the authority supporting each withheld part and request any nonexempt portion that can be separated.
Note: Pike County has not published a release-record retention period, so ask whether an older booking remains available.
Pike Release Files and Property
The Pike jail information policy lists a driver license, Social Security card, military ID, employee security card, and birth certificate as items authorized for a Sentence and Judgment file. It separately describes limited property for a transfer to the Missouri Department of Corrections.
That detail documents transfer processing. It does not establish a public community-release property pickup process, release door, travel plan, gate payment, or family waiting area. None of those logistics was verified in the county material. A Sentence and Judgment file generally supports commitment and transfer. The county release record must still show whether the person went to MODOC or left custody.
Identity documents in that file should not be treated as proof of community release. They explain why property and paperwork may move with a sentenced person while custody continues.
Find Pike County Released Inmates
Start with the last known custodian. The Pike sheriff app may help check current county custody, but its official store descriptions do not document a released-person archive, release date, photo policy, update cadence, or retention. No visible browser roster and no separate official 24-hour or 72-hour release feed were found during the research sweep. Absence from the app is therefore a lead, not an answer.
- Confirm identity. Match the full name, aliases, date of birth, booking number, case number, or agency ID.
- Ask Pike County. Call the detention center and ask whether the named booking is active, released, or transferred, including the event time and destination category.
- Check the court. Use Case.net for bond, release, dismissal, probation, commitment, judgment, and disposition entries.
- Check MOVANS. Review the specific person and agency record for a custody-change event, then confirm it with the originating agency.
- Follow the transfer. Search MODOC, BOP, ICE, USMS, or another jail when the county record names a receiving authority.
- Request proof. Obtain the focused release or transfer entry when the online sources do not resolve the event.
The lack of a county feed means a recent date must be treated as a request range. The Pike County 24-Hour Release List explains the same-day fallback without claiming an online list exists.
Pike MODOC Release Search
The MODOC Offender Web Search covers active prisoners, probationers, parolees, and conditional-release clients. Enter first and last name, let the system include aliases, complete the CAPTCHA, and compare identifiers before opening a result. The landing warning expressly says discharged offenders are not included. A person can appear with a field assignment after leaving prison because parole or conditional release is still active MODOC custody.
| Search or record field | How to use it |
|---|---|
| First and last name | Starts the active-offender search; aliases may be included. |
| DOC ID | Permanent MODOC identifier and the strongest match across files. |
| Name and date of birth | Helps separate people with similar names in historical data. |
| Assigned place and F/I function | Distinguishes field supervision from institutional assignment. |
| Court case and sentence county | Connects each charge row to the correct court matter. |
| Completed Flag | Shows completion for one charge or sentence row, not automatic final discharge. |
| Minimum and maximum release dates | Sentence-level calculation and expiration fields, not guaranteed door-exit dates. |
For final discharge, use the nightly MODOC Sunshine data. It reaches people who are or have been under supervision and may include records dating to 1974, with legacy and accuracy cautions. Review every charge row. Sentinel values must not be turned into ordinary dates: 99999999 represents life, 88888888 covers indeterminate or interstate matters, and 66666666 relates to assessment or investigation situations.
The official MODOC Sunshine source shows the historical-data download and its dictionary.
This historical path matters precisely because the public active search removes people after final discharge.
Note: One completed charge row does not prove that every sentence and supervision term has ended.
Pike Release Records Across Five Cities
The Pike County Circuit Clerk processes tickets for Bowling Green, Louisiana, Frankford, Clarksville, and Eolia. That consolidated local path can preserve a municipal case trail after a person no longer appears in county custody. The clerk also maintains judgments, orders, proceedings, and commitments that can explain why detention ended or continued elsewhere.
Search Case.net by litigant name or case number, narrow to Pike County and the right court, and read the docket in sequence. A bond entry or release order shows legal authority but may precede the jail exit. A dismissal resolves the case listed. A probation order supports community supervision. A commitment or remand points to continued custody.
The criminal, traffic, and juvenile division is in Room 31 at 115 West Main Street, Bowling Green. It can be reached at 573-324-3112 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Ask for a docket sheet, judgment, sentence, order, or certified copy by case number. Current copy fees and archived-file status must be confirmed with the clerk.
Pike Release Agency Differences
Pike County contains two very different custody sites. The Pike County Detention Center is operated by the Sheriff’s Department. Northeast Correctional Center is a medium/minimum state prison operated by MODOC. Its Bowling Green location does not make its residents county inmates and does not prove their cases began in Pike County.
A disappearance from the county app can indicate a transfer into state custody. In that event, the sheriff’s transfer record and court commitment explain the Pike County departure, while MODOC becomes responsible for later movements, parole, conditional release, or final discharge. A person leaving NECC on parole may remain visible as an active field case. Once fully discharged, the person is excluded from MODOC Web Search and must be researched through the nightly historical file, DOC records, and the relevant court or parole documents.
Which office has the release time? Pike County records the county-jail exit. MODOC records the state-prison movement or discharge. Neither agency’s record should be used as a substitute for the other.
Note: NECC’s location in Bowling Green identifies the prison’s address, not the county where a resident was convicted.
Pike Release Alerts and Federal Records
MOVANS is Missouri’s VINELink service, and the Pike sheriff links it. Search a specific person, match the agency and identifiers, open the correct record, and read the reported custody status or location. Registration may offer phone, text, or email channels in the live interface. Phone calls use a PIN. Preserve the confirmation. An out-of-custody alert is useful evidence of an agency-transmitted event, but it is not a certified Pike County release record and may lag.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol registry is a narrow additional check for people who are legally required to register. Its address filters distinguish incarcerated and non-incarcerated categories and provide absconder information. It does not cover all Pike County released inmates and does not establish a release date.
Federal custody requires another branch. The BOP Inmate Locator searches by federal identifiers or name and demographics. A past release date with no institution means departure from BOP custody, not release from Pike County or every other system. A future date is projected. PACER can show federal detention and release orders, judgment, dismissal, and supervised-release terms. USMS movement records require a narrow FOIA request.
For a suspected immigration transfer, ask Pike County whether ICE received the person. ICE ODLS is mainly a current locator, and no result can mean many things, including transfer, release, removal, mismatch, lag, or an ineligible record. ERO must resolve the custody question. EOIR case information concerns immigration proceedings, not physical detention.
Pike County Release Supervision
MODOC Probation and Parole supervises court-ordered probation, Board-ordered parole and conditional release, and Interstate Compact cases. An active field assignment supports community supervision. It does not prove final discharge, and it does not rule out a later local arrest or violation hold.
- Probation
- Court-ordered community supervision, often used instead of or after confinement.
- Parole
- Release authorized by the Missouri Parole Board while legal MODOC custody continues.
- Conditional release
- The supervised portion of a qualifying prison sentence.
- Discharge
- The end of the sentence or supervision obligation.
- Time served
- A release tied to credited or completed confinement time.
- Detainer
- A request or legal basis for another authority to hold or receive the person.
Use the active offender result and the P&P office directory to identify the responsible office. Early discharge may end supervision before its planned expiration. Earned Compliance Credit under Section 217.703 reduces eligible community supervision by compliant months; it is not county jail or prison release credit. More detail is available on the Pike County parole and probation page.
Pike Release Visitor Restriction
Pike County jail policy says anyone released from the facility during the prior twelve months may not visit. A person on supervised or unsupervised probation or parole also needs an approval letter from the P&P officer before visiting.
This is an administrative rule, not a public locator. It does not supply a release list, release date, booking number, destination, or present custody status. A visitor’s eligibility also cannot confirm the identity or event for someone else. Use the sheriff record for the county exit and the proper active or historical system for later status.
The rule is a consequence of a past Pike County release. It should never be reversed into proof that a person was released within a certain period.
Note: Visitor eligibility is an access rule and cannot replace a named-person release or transfer record.
Pike Release and Custody Sources
Each official source answers a narrow question. Start with the event you need to prove, then use the record that belongs to that custodian.
| Source | Best use | Main limit |
|---|---|---|
| Pike sheriff app | Current county inmate check | No verified release archive or retention rule |
| Sheriff release record | County exit time, reason, and destination | Must be requested directly |
| MOVANS | Agency-fed custody-change notice | Not a certified record and may lag |
| Case.net | Release authority, bond, judgment, disposition, or commitment | May not show physical exit time |
| MODOC Web Search | Active prison or field supervision | Excludes discharged offenders |
| MODOC Sunshine data | Historical state custody and discharge research | Charge-level rows require full review |
| BOP locator | Federal custody and BOP release date | Does not prove release from all custody |
When sources disagree, record each source’s timestamp and scope. An agency-created release or transfer entry is stronger than a search absence. A court order is strong for legal authority, while the custodian’s log remains stronger for the actual exit.
Pike County Release Facilities
Five custody systems can matter to a Pike County release search. They are listed in operational order, starting with the county jail. Each facility page uses the record path for its own agency.
- Pike County Detention Center: county bookings, bond, local sentence completion, court-ordered release, and transfers.
- Northeast Correctional Center: state prison movements, parole, conditional release, and MODOC discharge.
- Missouri Department of Corrections: statewide prison history and active community supervision.
- Federal Bureau of Prisons: federal custody and BOP release-date records.
- Federal and Immigration Releases: ICE, USMS, federal court, and immigration proceeding distinctions.
No separate municipal jail, federal prison, ICE detention center, or USMS contract facility in Pike County was found in the reviewed official local inventory. Temporary holding or transfer arrangements can still occur, so the county release record should identify the receiving agency.
