Missouri Department of Corrections Discharges

To find someone released from the Missouri Department of Corrections, separate prison departure from final discharge. A Missouri DOC release can place a person on parole or conditional release while state legal custody continues. The active offender search can show that field status. A person who has completed all state custody and supervision falls outside that active search, so historical records become essential. Pike County ties may involve a local sentence, Northeast Correctional Center, community supervision, or none of those, and each record should be matched to the right person and case.

Missouri DOC Release Meanings

MODOC operates Missouri prisons and the state probation, parole, and conditional-release system. Its statewide entry in the Pike facility map is a system, not a Pike County jail. A person may leave an institution for parole or conditional release, transfer between institutions, enter another agency’s custody, or complete a final discharge. Only the last event ends the relevant MODOC custody and supervision.

Parole is discretionary release by the Missouri Parole Board. Conditional release is the supervised part of a qualifying prison sentence. Probation generally comes from a court instead of a prison release. All three can produce an active field assignment. A “field” result means community supervision, not current imprisonment and not final discharge.

Missouri Historical Discharge Data

The MODOC Sunshine Law page publishes a compressed FAK930 historical dataset updated nightly. It includes people who are or have been under department supervision, with data reaching as far back as 1974. MODOC warns about legacy conversion, self-reported items, and working-file limits, so the file is a strong research path rather than a guarantee that every field is complete.

Match the permanent DOC ID, name, date of birth, assigned place, institutional or field function, court case, sentence county, charge, sentence date, and sentence length. Then review every Completed Flag and the minimum and maximum release-date fields. Each charge occupies a separate row. A completed row can coexist with another active sentence or supervision term.

Historical rule: One completed charge does not establish final discharge. Reconcile all rows tied to the permanent DOC identifier.

The dictionary also uses sentinel values. A date of 99999999 denotes life, 88888888 addresses indeterminate or interstate matters, and 66666666 concerns assessment or investigation situations. Do not convert those codes into ordinary calendar dates.

Missouri DOC Records Requests

Use the nightly file first, then submit a narrow request for missing or unclear state release facts. Give the DOC ID, full name, date of birth, court case, sentence or charge, relevant date range, and the exact release or discharge fields sought. Ask for existing records and electronic delivery rather than a new analysis.

Parole Board material should go to the Board’s Sunshine address, while offender and discharge clarification goes to the general MODOC records channel. If the record is tied to a Pike County prosecution, the sentencing-court docket can supply the judgment and later court action. Court authority and DOC movement time are related but distinct facts.

Missouri DOC Release Dates

MODOC’s data dictionary calls the calculation fields “Sentence Minimum Release Date” and “Sentence Maximum Release Date.” The minimum is the calculated minimum for an active sentence. The maximum is sentence expiration. Both are sentence-level calculations, not a universal projected date and not a promise that the person will physically leave on that day.

Institutional discipline, parole action, consecutive sentences, jail credit, detainers, new cases, and other legal changes can alter the practical result. The Missouri Parole Board warns that a release date may depend on institutional and legal conditions. When dates differ, preserve the exact field label rather than calling every figure an actual release date.

Minimum release date
A calculated sentence minimum in the DOC data.
Maximum release date
The sentence expiration date recorded for that row.
Actual departure
The institutional event showing when the person left that placement.
Discharge
The end of applicable state custody and supervision.

Missouri Parole Release Records

The Missouri Parole Board controls parole decisions. MODOC’s Division of Probation and Parole supervises parolees and conditional-release clients after prison departure. Search an active person first, then use the statewide P&P address directory or central division contact to identify the responsible field office. An office assignment helps verify supervision but does not by itself give the original prison exit time.

Early discharge is the final end of supervision before its planned expiration. Eligible people may receive Earned Compliance Credits under section 217.703, generally reducing qualifying supervision by thirty days for each full compliant calendar month, subject to statutory exclusions and interruption rules. Those credits apply to community supervision. They are not prison good time or county-jail good time.

The Missouri victim-notification rights provision appears in the successful MODOC source capture below.

MODOC Victim Services is a separate path for eligible custody, hearing, result, release, escape, and death notices. It is not a public historical offender search.

Pike County DOC Connections

The MODOC institution directory confirms the Pike-based state prison, Sheriff Stephen Korte’s official page covers the separate county jail, and the Pike Circuit Clerk supplies a Pike judgment or commitment when that court handled the case. These sources prevent an institution address from being mistaken for sentencing jurisdiction.

Northeast Correctional Center is in Bowling Green, but MODOC custody is statewide. A resident at NECC may have been convicted in another Missouri county. Search the sentence county and court case shown in the DOC data instead of assuming Pike adjudication from the prison address.

A transfer from Pike County Detention Center to MODOC is departure from the county jail while custody continues. The sheriff’s release or transfer entry should identify the receiving agency, and the state system then becomes the proper status source. The Northeast Correctional Center release route applies that distinction to the Pike-based state institution.

A final state discharge does not prove the absence of a separate county, federal, or immigration matter. The Pike County release search provides the custody-layer check used when more than one system may be involved.

Reconcile Missouri Release Results

Start with the agency that held the person just before the event. Next, identify the exact word shown: institutional, field, parole, conditional release, completed, transferred, discharged, or simply no search result. Finally, locate the durable record that should accompany that event, such as the full DOC row set, parole action, sentencing judgment, or receiving-agency entry.

Dates may refer to different stages. A sentence minimum, Board action, institutional departure, field assignment, and final discharge can all have separate dates. Names can also produce false negatives, so prefer the permanent DOC number and confirm the court case. If the rows conflict, request a focused clarification instead of selecting the date that appears most convenient.

The strongest completed-discharge path is the nightly historical file plus DOC clarification when needed. The strongest active community-release path is the Web Search result plus parole or field-office material. Neither should be replaced by a county jail roster.

Missouri Release Court Records

Court records add durable legal context. Search by case number in the sentencing county and review the judgment, sentence, probation order, commitment, or later discharge entry. A court order can explain why a person entered or left one form of custody, but the operational DOC record remains the source for institutional assignment and movement. Pike County should be selected only when the case or sentence data actually identifies Pike.

MOVANS can provide a reported custody-change alert for participating MODOC records. It is a notification service, not a certified discharge record. Save the agency, status wording, and alert time, then compare them with the active search, historical data, and direct DOC response. Differences may reflect transmission time rather than an error.

Does no Web Search match prove discharge? No. The result may reflect identity error, protected data, or the active-only scope. Check the nightly file and all charge rows before requesting DOC confirmation.
